1. Improper time management - For this candidate need to learn skim and scan through the passage for general understanding and locating specific information. You don't require to do speed reading or understanding each and every word meaning for gaining good score in IELTS reading.

2. May not find exact instructions in the questions. Especially when word or number limit is important, one must need to be cautions about it.

3. Word limit in writing is another issue- less than 150(task1) and less than 250(task2) will limit your band score.

4. Using non-standard pronunciation-Even though accent is not important in speaking test, pronunciation is! Using the correct stress and intonation to carry meaning will give you a better band score.

5. Deviating from the topic in the writing task- No matter how perfect and wonderfully interesting your essay is ,if it doesn't address all parts of the topic,your score will be limited.

6. Writing too much- It is the quality of the arguments, evidence and language you use that are important,not the number of words above the limit.
